Alberto Betella will navigate the main takeaways from his scientific research in the field of Emotion AI to his experience as Chief Technology Officer at Alpha, the European Moonshot factory powered by Telefonica (Fortune Global 500). The talk will present highlights on how to build empathic products for a broad range of industries by showcasing examples from early-stage prototypes to real-world technologies.
AI will be the defining development of the twenty-first century. Within two decades, aspects of daily human life will be unrecognizable. AI will generate unprecedented wealth, revolutionize medicine and education through human-machine symbiosis, and create brand new forms of communication and entertainment. In liberating us from routine work, however, AI will also challenge the organizing principles of our economic and social order. Meanwhile, AI will bring new risks in the form of autonomous weapons and smart technology that inherits human bias. AI is at a tipping point, and people need to wake up – both to AI’s radiant pathways and its existential perils for life as we know it.

In this groundbreaking blend of imaginative storytelling and scientific forecasting, the pioneering AI expert, Dr. Kai-Fu Lee, answer an imperative question: How will artificial intelligence change our world within twenty years? He will share his predictions about our world in 2041 and how it will be shaped by AI.
Over the last decade, AI has transformed technologies such as machine translation, image processing, and computer games. This talk argues that the next decade will see even bigger wave of breakthroughs in scientific discovery, biomedicine, and sustainable development areas. Volodymyr Kuleshov will present his cutting-edge work in these application areas, including machine learning research done in his group at Cornell Tech as well as its application towards the important environmental challenge of averting food waste. As well, he will describe how innovations in research can be translated into commercial products via the example of Afresh Technologies, a startup based on research out of Cornell Tech at Stanford.
Lauren Romeo from AXA International will discusse the main challenges of shifting from a data science career in academia to a data career in a multinational corporation. The talk also will highlight how being customer-centric, business-driven and technically savvy are critical to navigate the delivery and operation of data-driven innovations and solutions in new, emerging and complex environments.
Finally, the presentation showcases the importance of bridging the gap between business and IT for designing and delivering meaningful, sustainable and scalable AI/ML solutions.
Synthetic Data in ML - when the world we build becomes the world we live in. Sergey Kuprienko will discuss key roadblocks his company, SQUAD, had while using synthetic data and how to find the way around. As well he share AI they train and evalute now, and, moreover, AI that they will be making for the Metaverse.
Machine Learning models become increasingly more complex both in the architecture pipelines and a number of trainable parameters that double nearly every few months for bleeding-edge models and make AI more data and compute-hungry. On the other hand, there is a growing demand for low-latency and energy-efficient AI applications that could power an increasing number of smart devices that are projected to be billions in the coming years. Finally, the emerging field of Quantum Machine Learning brings in an entirely new point of view on the field but is only in its infancy in terms of applications.

Mykola Maksymenko from SoftServe will discuss some of these trends and his contributions to interesting researches and business applications that they open.

Since its inception, Powder has been conducting research into deep learning, with a particular focus on computer vision. Major applications have included video understanding, video summarisation, highlights detection, and emotion recognition. Powder's Principal AI Researcher Liam Schoneveld will give an inside look into Powder's latest research into self-supervised learning for video understanding. Specifically, this work looks at whether it is possible to learn from 1000's of hours of unlabeled video data, in order to improve the performance on various downstream tasks, namely for highlights detection in video games. A brief intro to self-supervised learning will be presented, followed by the approach and results of this latest work.
Henri Mirande from Kinetix will wrap up the conference with the overview of AI technologies evolution: from descriptive architectures to generative architectures. He will explain how the recent technologies in Deep Learning allowed to go from descriptive architectures that analyse data to generative architectures that create "real life objects" and provide real-life examples of deep generative models as tools in the industry. Here you will discover how the first generative architectures became robust enough to tackle real industry challenge and go from a solution to earn time on simple tasks to a tool tackling technical barriers.

As well Henri will show why 3D industry need deep learning, zooming on the example of 3D industry, video games, medias and animation in general to show why the multiverses revolution absolutely need Deep Learning to occur and what are Deep Learning solutions to these problems.

At the end of his talk, Co-Founder and CTO at Kinetix, will share Deep Learning & Kinetix purpose in 3D animation. He will enter the specific example of 3D animation to understand why and how Kinetix and other companies of this ecosystem help people to create without the need of technical skills. As well he will demonstrate how Deep Learning can also be used as a tool to explore creativity.
